Should you stand for election? Well if:

• the shamed MP is looking like running for re-election
• the shamed MP is from the party you would naturally vote for (our "top five" targeted MPs are all Labour)
• you feel you could stand for the natural voters of that party as a viable alternative to the incumbent
• you would be willing, if elected, to offer yourself to the incumbent's party in order to re-assure natural voters that your election could help their preferred party form a majority in parliament
• you can give voice to the concerns and views of these constituents and generally support the good and well deserving policies of the relevant party in parliament
• you feel confident you could bring honesty and integrity to the job

... well you should think about standing as an independent against them at the next general election.

Don't worry (this bit is deliberately a bit tongue in cheek - after all if you couldn't laugh you would need to cry!):

• no qualifications required - but honesty and integrity would be a good idea
• no previous experience required - if you can listen - talk - vote - you will be just fine
• long holidays for those that would take them
• job can be part-time (but should not be) - other jobs/positions can be held (although this is ethically dodgy)
• salary is excellent at around three times the average wage - you need to promise not to let that go to your head and make you feel you are better than anyone else
• outstanding pension - second to none
• good expenses allowances - although these may just, possibly, perhaps - be changing
• would be great if you were independently minded and could make decisions based on convincing evidence based argument - rather than slavishly following a party line - our politics might just be a little more meaningful then
• if you are the ordinary man or woman in the street - give voice to all the others - you are what this nation needs right now
