Gordon Brown defeated over plan to clean up Parliament - PM's new proposals were designed to govern MPs behaviour after the fallout from The Telegraph's expenses revelations. [Telegraph latest MPs expenses]
Well serves Gordon Brown right in my opinion. He just can't resist "knee-jerk" legislation can he?
With the Kelly Committee reviewing MPs' expenses right now and due to report later this year why does Brown think it right to rush through legislation?
They could stop some obvious aspects of the current system right now if they wished and that would not need legislation - just a re-drrafting of their Green Book and communicatiing the new rules to memebers as an interim measure before Kelly reports. But, oh no,Brown has to be seen to be "saving the day" when not "saving the world".
I don't look forward to a Cameron Government, but, I will certainly not miss this character.
